ENGLISH HAS FIXED WORD ORDER AND CASE MARKING IS LARGELY OBSOLETE.

(Blame the Normans. Also the Danes. Hell, blame the Anglo-Saxons while you’re at it since it was them showing up and forcing the Britons to switch to Anglo-Saxon that started the whole thing. Look English has a fucking weird history that involves constantly being conquered and forced to speak a new language or mish-mash until they got so tired of this that they decided to turn around, build an amazing navy and do it to everyone else instead, leading to global violence and conquest and just about everything we’re struggling with today.)

lilyjcollins: In honor of Fantines death in last night’s episode, here is her progression from beginning to end. This has been such a transformative experience, literally and figuratively. Thank you again so much to the incredible hair and makeup team headed by the impeccable (Jackie Fowler) and specifically my insanely talented key artist (Rowena Dean). I couldn’t have done it without your vision and design. Make sure to swipe all the way through for the full #LesMisérables effect…(x)

PSA to young girls

Certain breast shapes will never allow your breasts to appear “perky” and that’s normal/natural and okay.

“Cellulite” on the skin is a genetic aspect to how a female’s body stores fat. Since the fat cells are round, they appear indented in the skin. This is normal/natural and okay - every girl/woman has it.

Thigh gaps are genetic, too. Some women’s/girls leg/pelvic bones do not allow for a thigh gaps. Depending on weight distribution, genetics, and bone structure/density, it is normal/natural to have or not have one. Please don’t do something drastic to achieve one, your body may not be designed that way.

Your weight fluctuates as you grow and throughout the year. Often times your weight will go up when you are preparing for a growth spurt, or before your period (due to water weight retention). This is normal/natural and okay.

You will be hungry during your period due to the massive amount of calories burned due to shedding your uterine lining. This is natural/normal and okay, and your body is going through a natural process and increasing your diet in order to compromise for it (and keep you fed and healthy).

Finding a significant other is not important and not necessary for you to live a full young life. There is no time constraint to find someone, and you will be ten times happier when you allow yourself to have the freedom to be a kid and not worry about impressing people.

It’s okay to speak up and ask for what you want (or inform someone of something you don’t want). Ask that teacher a clarifying question, tell that boy to stop picking on you - find your voice and never let anyone take that away from you. Future you will thank you.

It’s time to stop worrying about being a girl, and start allowing yourself to be a kid. Be bold, be strong, be outspoken, be opinionated, be smart, be brave - be powerful!

Don’t forget to love yourself through all of the things life has to throw at you 💜

Another trope I forgot to mention that I love are traumatized characters experiencing love for the first time and not knowing how to cope with it. I just eat that shit up

especially when they’re like edgy, scary and mean. that moment where they get a tender hug, or a gentle rub or just someone complimenting them and their entire world view is changed. thats so good. i need more of it

Character Design

Some tips to make your designs better!

One of the most important things about making fiction is having characters. Your audience needs something to relate to so you must give them a cast that they can love or hate. For those not working with live action, creating appealing character designs is necessary. Character designs can be the line where someone decides not to look at your content.

Which movie would you rather see if you didn’t know anything about the two? personality, color, and shapes are important for you and your audience when looking at fiction.

HOW I DESIGN CHARACTERS

noodle-dont-feel-so-good:

I have been redesigning a character of mine and i wanted to show my dumb process for making characters so here it is in no particular order of importance (warning i say recognizable, character, and design a lot also grammar isn’t my strong suit)

image

1. Finding references and images you want your character to invoke is important as it can help tell you who they are and it helps with inspiration when designing them but it really depends on what your character is and their purpose

image

2. Having a recognizable silhouette is very IMPORTANT I’m serious this one is very important don’t forget it

image

3. Not as important but it helps having a unique body type to your character so when they are in or out of costume they are still recognizable

image

4. I’m not good at explaining this but having a color palette that reflects your characters personality is helpful in this one she is constantly angry and frustrated so i gave her a red and orange color scheme (also its the colors of a typical firecracker)

image

5. Value is also important as it breaks up your characters features so when designing your character’s color scheme put them in gray scale and see if they are still recognizable or do they turn into a grey mess

image

6. Its shapes! shapes can help tell a characters personality i would go more into this but for simplicity’s sake Circle’s are friendly and harmless, Squares are dependable and stubborn, and Triangles are active and EVIL so make sure you incorporate shape into your design

image

Hope this helps even if i just rehashed every thing you already knew and i know i have my own biases when creating characters so take what i say with a grain of salt. also having a characters personality and story should be the first thing you do as it decides every other choice you make when Designing them so keep that in mind!!!
